You have seen the 60 Minutes interview with Will Smith, here's something different. A link to a MTV interview with 50 cents. Please explain the differences you notice with the two interviews.
I enjoyed the 50 Cent interview a lot more than I did the Will Smith interview. The 50 Cent Video was a lot more excited because different camera angles were invovled and we got to see the interviewer as well sitting right next to 50. The interviewer also got to ride in 50 Cent's car which shows that the interview was more personal than Will Smith's which seems like a lot more information was invovled. I liked how the interview displayed pictures and video clips of 50's life because the visuals jucied up the interview that much more. I also enjoyed how he talked about how with Colubia records he wasn't making that much money so that is why he switched. I also liked hearing about the fued between 50 and Ja Rule because I never knew about it but it was compelling. All in all, I enjoyed this interview much more than the previous one.
The big thing that really stood out in 50 cent's interview is that the camera rarely stopped moving. It seemed more interesting because the scenes were always flashing from teh interview to other video of him. It is obviously geared to younger people who have a lot shorter attention span. It was lively and upbeat, but wasn't traditional for the most part. I personally liked the interview and I don't think that MTV did the interview wrong i just think that it is a different style of doing and interview for an ever changing target audience, especially one with a short attention span.
This video was far more entertaining and action filled. The camera had a good angle of both 50 Cent and the interviewer. The interview had many different camera effects and would jump from one thing to another relating to what 50 Cent would be speaking about, keeping the audience more interactive and interested. MTV does a better job of keeping younger audiences into the interview far more then 60 Minutes.
the camera angles and lighting were completely different from the will smith interview. Although the 50 cent interview was more exciting and entertaining, i feel the Will smith one was better. Number one 60 seconds is a different approach of an interview from MTV so of course its going to be staged in one spot, less entertaining, but the lighting will be better, and it will be more background of the interviewer. The shadow in the 50 cent interview was higher concentration, while will had better lighting. The angles in Smiths interview were part of the 180 degree line and 30 degree rule going back and forth to each person. While 50 had a straight on one shot when sitting down, yet the camera moved more. I feel will smiths interview was better.
I perfer this interview then the Will Smith, because 50's interview was far more interesting.I think the music playing in the background made it more entertaining, also the flashbacks to the photos keeped the viewers awake. Diffrent camera angles also kept it amuzing.(Joanna Simeon)
The 50 cent interview was alot less formal than the WIll Smith interview. You can tell by the format that the interviews were geared towards much different crowds. The 60 minutes interview was geared towards an older more attentitive crowd whereas the 50 cent interview was geared towards teen and young adults. I noticed that in the 50 cent interview there was always music in the backround making shot transitions much easier. The camera angle selection also differed the 60 minute interview exercised the 180 degree rule and the 30 degree rule. IN the 50 Cent interview it looked more like no rules just straight on shots of Sway and 50. ^o minutes looks formal whereas MTV looks curban and underground

The 50 cent interviewed looked to be more of a friendly interview where with Will Smith you could tell it was just a interview. In the 50 cent interview they were sitting next to each other like buddies and friends. In the Will Smith one there were close up on Will Smith and long shots for the man interviewing him. I enjoyed in the Will Smith one when they talked about his past it was Will Smith telling stories. In the 50 cent one they showed images from his concert so you could not connect with 50 cent as well. The one thing I enjoyed about the 50 cent interview was when they talked about his life the date and action came up on the screen.
Obviously, we know that the camera angles and lighting were very much different in the 50 cent interview, than in the Will Smith interview. We also know that Will Smith's interview was targeted to a more general audience which included adults as well as young adults and teenagers, where I feel like the 50 cent interview was targeted for young adults and teenagers, for example people who watch MTV. Also, Will Smith's interview had more of a purpose and there was more to talk about during the interview, which explains why there is more talking and answering questions; whereas in 50 cent's interview every five seconds the camera is showing him on stage or illustrating the story of his life. The rapid movement of the camera is done on purpose to attract attention, when things tend to be moving that fast and lights are everywhere people feel enticed to continue to watch the show or the interview in this case. I feel that both interviews were successfully created to target their audience.
Although 50 Cent's interview was flashier and had more entertaining elements to it, I enjoyed the Will Smith interview better. MTV has to keep the teenage viewers entertained with music and cutting to different clips. The camera angle with both Sway and 50 in the shot with the camera slowly moving isn't bad, but I like how the angles in Smith's interview keep the focus on Smith by showing headshots and following the 180 and 30 angle rules.
Ok, so first of all, I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but the 50 cent interview was not smooth on YouTube (on my computer) it can skipping and pausing, so it took forever to actually watch then entire interview (and this is like the third time I have tried). Secondly, this interview was obviously made for the younger viewing audience. The flashing back and forth, the in between script lines, and the casual form of the two people. The rapidness of the interview as well as the background music are meant to keep the audience involved and entertained. I personally, thought that the Will Smith interview was much more intriguing than the 50 cent interview, and was definitely more professional. 50 Cent in his interview was wearing casual layers of clothes and a baseball cap (no good) and Sway was also wearing a hat. The baseball cap shaded the top of 50 Cent's face, and the lighting had already made the interview dark enough.
